Slide #66

silde

"Horseshoes were a symbol of good luck. This gilded buckle of stamped silver, in a horseshoe shape and with a soldered back, has a mark in the shape of an acorn. It was probably made by Eckfeldt & Ackley of Newark, NJ (active from 1989 – 1935, per Rainwater & Redfield) and is about 3" wide. The double vertical posts on each side are the back fittings through which the belt would be threaded."
