Birks Bell Shaped boxes all are sterling.

"#1 Fluted top- inside plaque has lion on hind legs holding a diamond with the words, BIRKS ELLIS RYRIE, and is gilt washed. Dates 30's #2 Fluted top- inside plaque is oval with BIRKS in script. Bottom of box is not the traditional bell shape. It's the straight bottom like the Prince of Wales box. The bottom is marked BIRKS inside a rectangular box and sterling. Dates 30's #3 Plain edged top - inside plaque with lion rampant and BIRKS Jewelers below it. Dates 1948. #4 Gadrooned edge top and bottom edge. Similar to The Coronation Box minus the Double "B" logo. Inside plaque is like #3. Dates 50's #5 Traditional and most common double "B" top. Inside lid has no plaque. You can see where they embossed or pressed the logo on top. Dates 60's-70's. All boxes other than #2 are marked Birks Sterling and all 5 hold one ring only. #2 is marked differently than the other 4. "
