I was attracted to this unmarked silver plate card case, my second purchase, because of the birds. It's inscribed at the bottom with the name of (presumably) the original owner, Ida Steele. I think it's from the 1870s or 80s. It came in its original satin-lined pasteboard box, now in pretty rough shape. It's hard to see in the photo, but the chain and the background but not the birds and leaves are gold washed. When I bought it I told myself it was a case for my iPod, but that turned out to be impractical.
