Trifari, like Coro, protected their designs with many Design Patents. However, unlike Coro they usually marked their jewelry with the patent information. Pieces produced prior to obtaining the patent are often found to be marked, "Pat. Pend". Pieces produced after the patent was obtained were usually, but not always, marked with the Des. Pat. number.

All three of my pins received their Design Patents on Feb. 12, 1944. The above is a pin and earring set with a large red rectangular stone as the feature stone on the pin and earrings. These stones are set like fine jewelry, with open backs. This set is not marked with any information about the design patent, which was Des. Patent 137,541.
