Seaduck asked to see photos of my washtub lightbox setup.

I bought a white rubbermaid washtub at a local hardware store. I already had a full-spectrum LED lamp that a friend recommended for Seasonal Affective Disorder. It's this one (but the price seems to have doubled since I bought it in August--I guess because the days are getting shorter and people's SAD is kicking in around now, so they're buying lamps): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IU9MMPI/

Here's the lamp by itself. You can bend and rotate it in different ways to get different angles:

The lamp happens to fit perfectly over the top of the washtub on its side:

Here's the resulting photo (of a Shiebler shoe horn):

As you can see, this setup is not perfect. The only light source comes from above, so there's a distinct shadow under the shoehorn. It would be better if I had a couple more lamps, one on each side, and maybe some gentle light from the front too. (Scott suggested using white cardstock as a reflector.) Maybe when summer rolls around again and the price of the SAD lamp drops, I'll get one or two more...or I could look for other kinds of lamps. But still, you get the basic idea.

Here's Scott's post that gave me the idea for this makeshift lightbox: Photograhy - Light Box refresher

Wow! So easy! And great results!

I bought a small lightbox setup thing eons ago, but it was such a pain to set up that I only used it once or twice.

I appreciate this and will give it a try. And thanks, too, for mentioning Scott's post. Hadn't looked at his photo tips for a few years, so I missed that one.

I notice that the current version of my SAD light seems to have the LEDs on the top of the lamp pointing up, rather than pointing down, which might make it less useful for this setup. But it's certainly not the only possible lamp to use.
