Here are a few unusual examples of teeth as a material for jewelry. Teeth were used for various reasons: as memorial objects, trophies, just decoration, etc.

A Victorian 10K gold brooch set with 2 fangs (wolf?). Perhaps this is a hunting trophy:

A small 1930s-40s gold-filled pin set with a tooth and depicting an insect

A favorite piece that must have an interesting and/or sad story: a circa late Victorian silver-plated box. The top is decorated with a piece of 14K gold with a child's tooth surrounded by small half-pearls. This part seems to be much older than the box itself, it was evidently removed from a piece of jewelry (a ring or stickpin, probably when it became too worn or damaged to wear) and subsequently added to this box. Perhaps some kind of mourning piece?

Do others have more tooth jewelry (or tooth silver items) to share?

I love that tooth insect! And the child's tooth pin on the box is really sweet and touching. At least, I'm assuming it's a child's. The tooth-and-pearl part looks Georgian to me.

I have several pieces of Victorian animal tooth jewelry (is anyone surprised?) I'll take photos soon. A few pieces of claw jewelry, too.

I missed a chance to buy human-tooth sentimental jewelry a couple of times a dozen or so years ago. Still kicking myself.

A few years before he died, my dad called and told me he'd lost a tooth and he was sending it to me. "My uncle used to wear an elk's tooth or something on the end of a watch chain," said Dad. "I thought you might like to to have my tooth. You could wear it on a chain if you want."

I have the tooth, and I keep sort of intending to have it set as a pendant. But I'm afraid if I do, I might lose it.

When I saw this thread, I thought for a moment it was going to be on a 21st-century, somewhat ephemeral, form: jewelry for and on teeth, the "grill" that's been in vogue for gangsta rappers...
