One of my favorite sports is collecting at least one place setting from every American Manufacturer. When I came upon a very attractive pastry fork made by R. Blackinton I jumped at it with the anticipation that I had something new to search for and could add another manufacturer to my place setting collection.

Referring to Hagan I found that this was the Nautilus pattern originated in 1900. Hagan has been very useful in also stipulating when a pattern is not a full line (n.f.l.) and I stay clear of these since place settings would not be available. However she made no such reference to Nautilus. Turner shows the pattern and treats it just like any other pattern.

I made this purchase in February of 1997 and in all my travels to shows and on the Internet I have never found another place piece of Nautilus. I have found small servers, such as sugar spoons, pie forks, master butters galore but no regular forks, not even a teaspoon.

Is Nautilus one of those patterns that was made only in serving pieces for gifts? I would love to know. Certainly a set of pastry forks like the one shown here makes a nice little present and does not really count as a place piece. I have seen no regular forks or spoons, not even a teaspoon.

If anyone has any information on this pattern
please either give me some hope or let me end my frustration.
