If this didn't happen to me I would not have believed it!
A few hours after I read Scott's post about Leonore Doskow death, I was writing out my usual end of month bills. I went to my messy table (so called desk), & pushed aside once again a big letter C with gunk on it. (One more project on the table to get to.) Don't know where, when, why I got it, maybe for a friend who's name begins with a C, who knows. I thought it was probably an overlay on stainless, not sterling! After stareing at it a while I finally said self, chuck it. Picked it up to toss
it in the garbage........& then since I have trouble throwing out anything, I said self, see if you can clean it up. I then went upstairs got out the jewelry cleaner, put it in for over an hour. (I was afraid to use brillo), as not to scratch it, but there was still a lot of gunk. Wiped it off with a towel as best I could & was going to put it back in the cleaner (since some of it did come off). Then I saw some tiny writing........got out the old mag glass &
VOILA! 1974 Sterling by Lenora Doskow!

Prior to Scott's post I was totally unfamiliar with her work.
Thank you Scott!

Hi Polly!
Wasn't ignoring you, but I am still trying to learn to post pictures. Aside from that I have since misplaced the piece but I am looking for it. In the meantime I also found 1 cuff link with her signiture as well, and naturally am looking for the matching one.

BTW I love your bird, my son has a Conure name Deacon (after Steely Dan's song). He was brought here in a tire wheel from Mexico years ago, my son could not leave him at the pet shop. No one wanted him because all he did was screech! His only problem is, he only likes me, my son & my Italian pasta, (besides seeds). He does not talk.

Aw, the poor kidnapped thing! The illegal bird trade is truly appalling. I'm glad he has a good home now.

Looking forward to your photos, whenever you figure it all out.

Thanks Polly!
I can post pictures very nicely on emails, it's just the forum that has me stymied.
As an aside, we had a 6 year old cockatiel that got out of his cage when my son had him out for some fresh air. He chased him up a tree & fell 40 ft. down. The good Lord saved him but we lost the bird.
We are also now minding a Blue Japanese fighting fish!

Hello Scott!
Thank you & Trust me I have read those instructions & technically for me they might as well be in Swahili! It took me 2 years to figure out how to do the email pixs. I have difficulty at times comprehending words. I need someone to sit with me & phyically show me how. My computer savy who lives out of town sat with me for photobucket but because it was a family get together I had no time to practice. Now I have to wait for him to come back. Also I share a Mac & no one I know has one to help me out. Believe me there are many items I have questions for the forum about that need pictures but.....
Don't worry, when I know how, you'll wish I hadn't learned!

Hi Middletom!

You have brought me to tears. Two months ago we lost our Deacon to something that got in the house when my son was away. I said goodnight covered him (as usual never locked his cage cause when he got up he would go to his perch & stay till bedtime), and shut the light, (which I also never do but since my son was away I figured I'd give him a nice rest), he does not fly in the dark. In the morning I ran to church before checking on him & when I got back my son had just come home & was screaming.........Deacon was gone! We searched all over & have not found him anywhere. I still call him though. May he rest in peace, we had him 23 years.

Last year was it, dog died, fish died, Deacon's gone. No more animals for us...........except for an occasional visit & sleep overs from my other sons dogs.

Say Hi for me to your conure!

All the best from Hackensack for the New Year to you & yours!

After our last pet went to the great beyond ... June & I decided, at best, we might become pet grandparents.

Hi Polly!

Thank you so much for your thoughts. I wish I had a picture of him. We do have a Christmas ornament for him as well as for all of our former pets.

I thought being a pet grandmother was going to be great, until my stepsons each delivered their pets to us for safekeeping-a black Lab and a red boa constrictor!

Hi Doc!

Aren't children great! Just when you think they are gone......THE'RE BAACCCCCK! My son had a Boa as well, nice as long as they have food to eat! That's the bad part.
Labs are great, we've had Irish Setters!
