Love it! The YANKEES won!
I've never gotten close to the trophy but I have a bag full of authentic dirt gotten before anyone thought of selling it!

The Civil War has been over for a very long time now and I'm pretty sure most people know who won. . .

I have gotten close to the trophy; when the Boston Red Sox won the World Series in 2004, the team went on a New England wide tour. At the time, I worked in Portland, ME and our offices had a really great conference room, so the Red Sox held their press conference there. I got to hold the trophy before the press conference. To be honest, I was so happy about the Red Sox finally winning that my love for the Sox overtook my love for silver and I didn't really study it from that perspective!

There's always next year!

“Wait Till Next Year” is also the name of a great baseball book by Doris Kearns Goodwin. As a Cardinal fan I often felt the same way about the Dodgers as she did about the Yankees.

Hi Doc!

That's great you got to hold it! The closest I've come is their World Series rings which my son got to wear for a few minutes courtesy of a friend.

I used to work for one of the guys who bought the Red Sox from the Yawkey family, so I had a bit of an in. But the trophy went on a tour of its own throughout New England in 2004 and in 2007, and lots of people got to touch it and have their pictures taken with it, the Red Sox being the team of the people (sorry, couldn't resist!).
