This is a beautiful very heavy dish. I'm not sure what year it's from but the seller said it was very rare, don't know about that. This one seems in almost perfect condition, can't remember what I paid for it but it wasn't over $xx.00 I think. Until I get my encyclopedia of silver plate possibly someone can assist with the year range for this?

This lion figure is at the very top center of the dish

Hello & welcome to the Forum.

Can't help with a time frame since I belive Poole had no particular system of dating.
I can tell you however that EPCA stands for electro plated copper alloy.

I can't say that it is particulary rare either & that is my opinion. If you are happy with it that's what counts, enjoy it!

Thanks for the reply Jersey, we're not really concerned whether anything is rare or not, we just enjoy collecting some of these items. Thanks also for letting me know about EPCA, I'll be glad when our Encyclopedia of Silver Marks gets here.

Thanks again
Chris

Click here for some information on starting a silver reference library. Good books are really helpful in learning about what you may be interested in collecting.

Thanks ahwt for the link to the references, I've got one on the way, Dorthy Rainwater's book should be here next week. I'll have to see what our local library has in the way of some of the others.

Thanks again, much appreciated

Thanks Jersey, I'll check it out. Amazingly it only hit 92 here yesterday at least 10 degrees cooler and looks like there's a large area of rain on the way - rain in Texas in Aug is almost unheard of.

Thanks
Chris
