I have a question about a pair of silverplate? cauldron salts with gold washed bowls. I have been unable to identify the mark. The mark reads F.M, 2 flower marks and a fourth mark which is unreadable. Any feedback welcome. Many thanks, Kelly

Marks look like those sometimes found on Old Sheffield Plate, but none of my references show these particular marks. Do you think these are Old Sheffield Plate?

Matthew Boulton used a round sunburst and Roberts, Cadman & Co, Eyre Street of Sheffield used a Bell, but also a five petal flower.

The initials F.M could have been for the silversmith that did the work. The people that did the work, for the most part, seem to be forgotten.

Very attractive pair of salts

Thanks ahwt! I had not considered OSP. I will examine them again and see if that is indicated. Thanks for the new lead!
