Slide #88 of 88

silde

"One of the most delightful of the buckles made by William B. Kerr & Co. About 3" wide when clasped, this two-piece buckle is of stamped silver with a closed back. Two chubby barefoot winged cherubs skip and dance - and when the buckle is clasped, they are holding hands.

Happily for me and for other buckle collectors, there are many buckles still to be discovered. Prices range from the very inexpensive to the very dear, depending on the rarity of the piece and the knowledge of the seller. But the range and variety of buckle designs seems to be close to infinite. While turn of the century buckles offer a fascinating window on the design and accessory styles of another era, the practicality of these jewels can also provide current owners with the pleasure and beauty of wearable art. "

End of presentation.
