Naturally, there are many bug pieces that are not signed at all. These range in quality from poor to fine. The first example shown is a fine quality multi-metal button hook, which I feel is probably Japanese. The handle is a gourd shape made of hand-chased brass. It features a wonderfully detailed applied parcel-gilt silver praying mantis on one side, and on the other side, a leafy vine. The leaves are constructed of both silver and copper. It is from about 1885, and is unsigned.
