I regularly receive emails from Replacements about certain patterns that I am looking for. In the last couple I noticed that pieces with monograms were listed along with the other perfect specimins rather than down below in the "discounted because of imperfections" column, as in the old days.

When buying it was Replacements practice to only pay full price for no mono or (gasp) "mono easily removed".

Now it seems that we collectors have broken into their consciousness and that a tasteful mono does not detract from a piece of antique silver.

Then again, maybe they just got tired of giving us discounts.

It should be noted that Antique Cupboard lists mono vs no mono but has charged the same prices for years.

When I buy from Replacements, Ltd., I ask them to not take off monograms and not polish each piece of silver. If you make this request, it is their policy to take $1 off the price of each piece of flatware. I admit that I find some oriental style monograms downright ugly, but generally I take delight in the beauty and variety of monograms.
