Has anyone seen any good movies (mainly period ones 1700's - 1800's) that show silver in the correct style? Barry Lyndon is one I've seen that does.

Although not the specific time period you are asking about, Gosford Park (2001) from Robert Altman shows a wonderful view of silver usage and care from a 1932 English country estate point of view.

I really like your question and look forward to everyone else's answers.

Ripping good movie, June!

While not a movie, there was a PBS/BBC documentary about the Queen at Windsor that showed the main state table being set for a formal dinner. Two rather slight stewards walked down the center in stocking feet to lay out the enormous Lamerie centerpieces and candelabras. The head butler walked about with a ruler, measuring the placement of spoons and such. I believe it was said that they can set 120 people before straining the primary flatware stock. I wonder if they search folks after?
