[01-1243]

I have a silver plate Gorham jug with the monogram "Kennard". I have found some vague hints that this may have been a 19c steamship line.

Has anyone heard of this firm?

Thanks

Are you thinking of the Cunard Steamship line?

That would seem logical, but for a brief reference to the Kennard line and how it was part of events that brought about the end of the era of trans-atlantic sail, but that's about the only reference to it I can find.

Is this the vague hints you found?

In 50 years, along came the Kennard Line - the Trans-Atlantic Service which the sailing ships could never do. All of the great houses of sail disappeared.

I think Wev is right - Cunard is the one who put sail out of business. Just another guy dictating to his secretary and not proofreading the result. smile
