Hi;
No expert here, but I wonder if your piece could be a 'brandy warmer' due to the clips under the bowl part--it is meant to at least hold something over something else...Measurements of the piece will help with ideas. What material is that little red piece on the end of the handle?

Hi Deb,
The overall length is 4.75", including the handle. The bowl measures 2" across the top and 1" tall. The red material appears to be some sort of plastic, possibly bakelite. Hope this helps.

I don't know what it is, but the red bakelite type ball on the end reminds me what you see on some 1930s to 1960s era barware.

I have seen these associated with sets of bar implements. They seem to be for mixing things over a container and then adding them to a larger volume of liquid. But there has never been the aha moment when it became clear just what these are. Would assume it went with some larger item and has become separated.

Off the wall question. Does the bottom up to first line hold an identifiable amount of liquid? Is it a metric or English measure? This looks very much to be something for rather formal use, as oppossed to kitchen work.

The mark is not familiar. It could belong to a novelty maker or a retailer. Interesting question.
