01-1452]

We own a sterling silver tea/coffee, each piece has the word Sterling over the number 950. I know this means the item is 95% sterling silver.

Can you please tell me the approximate age of this set, and possibly what country it was originally made in? Or can you please refer me to someone who might know?

Thank-you for your time!

Technically the Sterling silver standard is 92.5 % pure, so 950 may not necessarily indicate silver content. It might, for example, be a pattern number.
Can you post photos of the mark and your set?

I have seen a lot of 20th century Japanese silver marked "STERLING 950". I think the silver content is actually 950, and the word sterling was used, perhaps, because the pieces were made for export and more customers would be familiar with the word sterling than just a number, 950.
