I am hoping that someone will come across this post and tell me what this piece is. Its made by the International Silver Co. Along with the makers name, it has the serial number "0249" and the numbers "6 - 01" stamped on the bottom. It also has the number 69 stamped inside a square on the bottom.

The piece stands approximately 4" high and is approximately 3" in diameter. It has a half inch diameter hole in the center of the bottom and has vent like openings along the top edge.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks - Mike

As long as we are guessing, could it be the inner portion of something else -- like a percolater, but for steeping, with the outflow at the top?
