I have kept a brochure of "signed originals" from Old Newbury Crafters for many years. Just now, finding it on the internet!

I kept it because, I would like to know about the Moulton pattern. Could you tell me about Mr. Moulton, and how his pattern was one of the originals?

Or, where can I find this information?

Thank you so much.

I do not know what the "Mr. Moulton" pattern might look like, but there were at least 12 silversmiths by that name working in Newburyport and elsewhere between 1760 and 1900. You can find basic information on each on my Silvermakers site: William Moulton

This will take you to William the elder; others can be found on the list of makers (linked to on the home page).

Can you post a picture of the piece?

Patricia,
The Moulton pattern as made by ONC was named in honor of the Moulton family of Newburyport, who, for many generations, made silver. The Moultons made many styles over the years and the Moulton pattern of ONC is probably similar to one. It is certainly a style that was quite common during the colonial and early 19th century. As ONC originated in Newburyport, it is understandable that one of their patterns would be named for the Moulton family. Hope you find this helpful. Geoff Blake
