Hi Everyone!

I really appreciate the help that you extended to me in my last posting.

My fiance and I went antiquing to find her an anniversary gift and this lamp is what she fell in love with.

I am not sure which forum "silver gilt lamp" would belong in so .. I thought I'd try you guys 8)

Our question is: Do any of you have experience with lamps?

We would really like to know What country was most likely to have made this?

Catherine Thuro has one in her book "Kerosene lamps II" that is almost identical to this one but has no information on it except that it is in the Toronto Museum.

The antique shop owners only knew that it was silver gilt and old.

Oh yea .. They also knew how to price it .. WOW! LOL

Going to TRY this picture posting thing Scott!

Please excuse the quality of the pictures. I am just learning how to use this new Olympus. (Can't seem to get rid of that [IN] thingy)

Paul

P.S. Forgot to say that I can't get a complete picture of this thing, It is over three feet tall! (Beautiful double scalloped shade)

I imagine the base is covered with felt; if it can be pealed back, you might find a maker's name stamped inside.

Thank You Wev

Yes, there is felt on the bottom.
There is also a 50 cent size hole in the felt itself.

I've kind of looked around inside for a mark but, I am afraid that unless I clean the tarnish? and loose metal scaling in there, the mark, if there is one, will never be found.

My fiance Already gets a little crazy when all I do is pick it up! LOL

Paul

P.S. I Have been known to .. drop things smile
