Please let me know about broken links and un-showing/broken images in posts and I will do what I can to put things right.

Please post (or send me) the problem URL's. As I correct things, I will delete the corrected URL's from this thread.

In the beginning, when the images were restored I added to the thread ”Today I restored the missing images”. I soon heard from several members that you appreciated the images being restored but you would rather I not add the note about “restoring the images”. So I stopped adding the note.

The work of restoring images continues. Yesterday I restored images to near 100 threads.

Restoring images also includes:

• editing thread so that things like ”How to post photos” and ”snip”’s where possible are removed (not in all cases).
  
• Threads are moved to the more topically correct Forum.
  
• “Dead” threads are deleted.
  
• In sone cases, I don’t have all the images to restore.

Over the next several days I will not be restoring any more of images because I have some business that requires my attention. But I hope to return to doing the image restoring soon. I suspect there are still many hundred images to restore.

I could use some help identifying the threads with missing images.

I need volunteers to select a forum to check every thread/post for missing images, thread clean up, moving, etc.. These are the forums (from time to time, this list will be updated with the volunteers assigned and whether the forum’s been updated):

There is a lot more to do in that forum... perhaps I am half way there.

Just let me know which forum(s) you will review and then send me the URL's that have missing images.

Please make sure the "Show all topics" has been selected or you won't see the earliest posts/threads.

I suggest you start with the earliest posts/threads.

Missing images includes over sized snips.

Also where a thread has a lot of "how to post images" BLA BLA let me have those URL's. Where it makes sense to get rid of the BLA BLA, I will clean up the thread.

The URL lets me get directly to the post/thread. Without the url I have to search for the url/thread by topic.

I am guessing that over the past month there have been maybe 700-1000 threads reviewed/corrected.

Without more volunteers to identify the treads/posts that require correction, its going to take a extra ordinary amount of time to make a significant dent in the project to

• restore un-showing/broken images
  
• Fix broken links
  
• Edit out no longer relevant snips and unnecessary BLA BLA.
  
• Move threads to the most appropriate forum.
  
• etc.

I suspect I missed a few and other images that were there when reviewed have been deleted by the original poster.

I have fixed/restored/edited many thousands of images, links, threads, etc.

I never realized how much was gone.
Nor did I ever realize how large a project this is. (I may still not know because the work continues)

It feels like I might have this 70-80 percent done. But I really don't know.

The forums were closed tonight between 7-8 while I cleaned up all the "[This message has been edited by Scott Martin (edited xx/xx/xxxx)]"

There is an amazing amount of info and interesting things in the forums. There are threads with images you have never seen... because I finally fixed the new members mistakes and moved the posts to the more appropriate forum.

I am pretty certain the majority of available missing images have been restored. If you discover any missing images please let me know. Un-restoreable images are clearly marked "gone from the internet".

I still need to edit some of the unnecessary bla bla (i.e.' "please read the yellow box" and "please properly post images/photos") but for the near term ..I'm taking a break!

I have fixed very many of the broken links but I am sure there are more to discover and fix.

I will (most likely tomorrow) be shutting the forums for an hour to do some maintenance related to this project.

As I comb thru the old threads ... I am amazed at the great stuff that has been posted.

The real thanks belong to you and the other active participants. Without your posts the forums would not be the amazing internet community it is.

This past weekend I didn't temporally closed the forums for maintenance... after a very short break, I realized I overlooked several thousand posts that still need my attention. It has been non-stop... I hope to have this bit done in a few days.

After taking a break I then discovered just how much I overlooked. It was a very large number of images/threads/posts (many thousands).

I was and remain surprised that no one said anything. Perhaps only lurkers are looking at the past posts?

BTAIM - I have been working pretty much non stop since 11-19-2013. I fixed the majority of missing images that I over looked. There are some closed threads to still deal with and I haven't done the private forums. I also expect there are more things that I am not yet aware of to surface.

I will be temporally closing the forum to finish the work.

I need a break. So after the temporally closing I will slow down this work until after the new year.

In 10,742 threads (57,161 posts) in public forums, I have restored the images that were missing.

For the few threads where the images couldn't be restored the missing image appears as [gone from the internet .

I still have a lot to do, like doing something about broken links to other sites, cleaning up the no longer necessary dialog about posting images, other bla bla and "snips". I will do this as stumble upon the threads or if someone is nice enough point out what needs work.

It been a long tedious process but the missing images portion of this project is done.
