Recently purchased these as it has the makings of an interesting bit of searching.

The chatelaine hook is unmarked but the scissors are marked Anderson. The style of engraving on the hook appears to me to be European. The scissors I have no idea other than there was an Anderson around the turn of the 18th/19th century making iron/steel cutlery. The reference I have was given to me probably 20 years ago as a pile of xerox copies without the title page.

Does anyone know of a web site or printed reference for early iron/steel?
Any thoughts on the Chatelaine hook?

Hopefully someone will come to my rescue once again.

Early iron and steel tends not to be marked, in my experience. Since most was for utilitarian objects, factory names began to be added as the Industrial Revolution proceeded.

There are undoubtably scissor collectors out there. And they may have some information. Which is not much help. People do tend to collect more by type of object than material, IMHE.
