Many of us are aware of silver's antibacterial qualities, but can silver also cure malaria?
Read this. It may be an additional reason for us to love silver.

Now, silver touch to malaria cure

CHENNAI: Small silver nano particles infused with water can cure malaria in just three days, said Dr BM Hegde, former vice-chancellor of the Manipal University. These tiny metal particles have the power to cure diseases like dengue and malaria, he said.

Speaking at a lecture on energy medicine at the Voluntary Health Services on Wednesday, he said his study published in Indian Practitioner', a medical journal on holistic healthcare, showed how tiny silver particles infused with water cured malaria in African population.

He said the study was done in Africa, which has been battling the epidemic for several decades now, as he did not get permission from the Indian government to do a similar study here. "We have now proved this natural therapy works," he said.

He said the solution is now commercially available in countries like the United States at $10 for a bottle of 100ml. Dr Hegde is now planning to make it available at Rs 5 in India. "In fact, we will be able to give people the ability to make this solution at home. It can prevent various problems starting from a soar throat," he said.

Silver gauges, when applied on wounds, help in the regeneration of tissues, he said. "We have used it on a senior police official and he is doing extremely well. We are now studying the possibility of using these gauges on people with diabetic ulcers and to cure leprosy wounds," he said.

Hegde said he has also been working with the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore to develop a vaccine for HIV. He did not reveal details about the study but only said they were moving towards a "positive direction".

Vladimir Vysotskii of the department of biophysics application at Keiv National Shevcheko University, Ukraine, spoke about the positive effects of water in treatment of various ailments including cancer.

Is there anything silver can't do?

For a lot of older folks the first thing to touch them after they were born was silver.

From Wikipedia: "Carl Credé is famous for introducing the use of silver nitrate eyedrops as an antiseptic for the prevention of ophthalmia neonatorum in newborns. He used a 2% silver nitrate solution, and first demonstrated its effectiveness in the early 1880s. During a three-year period, Credé treated 1160 newborns with silver nitrate, and only two infants developed ophthalmia. The silver nitrate solution is sometimes referred to as "Credé's prophylaxis" in medical literature. Later, the solution was diluted to 1% silver nitrate, and became a standard practice in obstetrics."

Today I believe that antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline are used instead, although some "natural childbirth" advocates still prefer silver solutions.

I wonder how Dr BM Hegde's water infused with silver differs from colloidal silver. Reminded me of this vintage post:

June,
Dr. Hegde spoke of silver particles infused with water, not water infused with silver particles. I don't see how one can infuse solid silver particles with water. Does silver absorb water?

I think something is being lost in the translation... read gauze (as in bandage) for gauses, so perhaps there is a mix up with silver/water - water/silver?

Malaria is not caused by a bacteria or virus - it is the result of a protozoa parasite infesting the body with concentrations in places like the liver. While colloidal silver can be effective in killing most one-celled organisms, the problem with the malaria protozoa is that it becomes spread throughout the body and once you are infected it would be difficult to get enough colloidal silver into your system for it to have an effect while not winding up becoming a problem in itself.

I note they did not say why the Indian medical establishment would not allow this person to experiment on Indian citizens where malaria is a problem in about the third of the country and where a cure would be a very high priority.
