I saw the ad for the Victorian Society in America featured in the most recent issue of Silver Magazine and was wondering if any members of the SSF have any experience with this group? Their website states that they are a group interested in all aspects of Victorian culture including the decorative arts. Does anyone know how active this group is in regards to the study and appreciation of silver? I also see that they publish a bi-annual magazine entitled "19th Century." Has anyone thumbed through an issue of this publication and if so, is it a worthwhile read for silver aficionados? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hello David.

On their website they list a local chapter in Falls Church Va. Perhaps they can help you.

Hello Jersey,

I just saw that there was a chapter in Falls Church and I went on their site and downloaded their most recent newsletter. I also located the index for back issues of "19th Century." It doesn't look like they spend much time thinking about silver, at least from these two pieces of evidence. I'll probably pass on joining (at least for now).

My local Victorian Society chapter, the Northern New Jersey chapter, seems to focus more on architecture and Victorian customs--but of course I've lectured them on silver over the years. It depends on who they can find to talk to them!
