A very unusual souvenir serving spoon, 9-1/2" long, with a nicely done hand-painted enamel view of the casino and pier at the 1893 Chicago fair. In desperate need of polishing, the 'hammer & tongs' mark of Norwegian maker David-Andersen is barely visible:

That spoon went way out of my range, but I do have a 4-1/2" Colombian Exposition souvenir spoon by Norwegian maker Marius Hammer. The bowl shows the 'Viking', a replica of the thousand year old 'Gokstad Ship' - built in Norway and sailed by a crew of 11 to the fair; the ship still exists, and after many rough decades, is undergoing restoration. The bowl is almost flat (perhaps making it easier to paint?); have seen a several of these over the years, with both oval and round bowls, some like mine and others with the sail up and the U.S. flag higher. Mine is missing the M. Hammer mark because someone had lead-soldered a later pin-finding to the stem, my jeweler did a nice job of removing it, but the mark was destroyed.
