I am sure I have posted this mark query before, but I can never seem to find things around here, so I will post again. I'm pretty sure the mark is American, but will ask here just in case. The mark is on a set of four teaspoons of good weight. They are ordinary fiddlebacks c 1820, with slightly molded spade drops and small square shoulders. I presume the additional marks are busts, but they are unlike any in McGrew.

Any thoughts?

I'm not familiar with the mark. I'll keep a look out for it.

I did a quick look through your past postings and don't see this image....I could have missed it.

The pointy character of the heads in the busts makes it look as if they're meant to be the head of a suit of armor.

knight head / S / knight head, as it were.

I just came across a salt spoon with the same mark without the busts.

This is the mark of George Spanenberg of Kingston, Ontario (Canada) c.1845-1870, as shown in Langdon's Canadian Silversmiths .

This is what comes of too many spoons, too few notes, and a sieve-like memory (though it was 18 years ago).

Thanks
