I am sure I have posted this mark query before, but I can never seem to find things around here, so I will post again. I'm pretty sure the mark is American, but will ask here just in case. The mark is on a set of four teaspoons of good weight. They are ordinary fiddlebacks c 1820, with slightly molded spade drops and small square shoulders. I presume the additional marks are busts, but they are unlike any in McGrew. Any thoughts?

I'm not familiar with the mark. I'll keep a look out for it. I did a quick look through your past postings and don't see this image....I could have missed it. IP: Logged |

The pointy character of the heads in the busts makes it look as if they're meant to be the head of a suit of armor. knight head / S / knight head, as it were. IP: Logged |

I just came across a salt spoon with the same mark without the busts. IP: Logged |

This is the mark of George Spanenberg of Kingston, Ontario (Canada) c.1845-1870, as shown in Langdon's Canadian Silversmiths . [This message has been edited by swarter (edited 01-28-2017).] IP: Logged |

This is what comes of too many spoons, too few notes, and a sieve-like memory (though it was 18 years ago). Thanks IP: Logged |
