[26-2503]

I saw this offered for sale and I have seen one before at a consignment shop, but I have no idea what they would be used for. Does anyone know? It's sterling and 7" long. I assume they are for serving something???

Looks like it's meant to stabilize something to be sliced.

That is a good idea as there are many items that are too thin to use just a regular fork. Here the tongs would only pierce the food slightly.
What pattern is this?

It did not say and there are no markings on it other than sterling. The seller makes the usual claim that it is an "antique" & came from an estate, but that's it. It looks like they mostly deal in jewelry & more expensive porcelain knick knacks and not collectible silver/flatware. I'm not buying it, but I have seen one before and really wonder what it is and can't find it in any of my books. I can't see where it would be practical to eat with it. I just want to solve the mystery!

I think June maybe on to something.

I have cooked a rolled roast. Untied it and tried to carve it at table. When stabilizing the roast to crave, too much fork pressure can create ugly fork marks/piercings, as well as cause the roast to fall apart. I think this specialized fork might be the solution.
