I was telling a friend about the extraordinary resource that was WEV's database which prompts my curiosity: Is there any news? I hope all is well with him.

I found the site through the Wayback Machine, but the functions are pretty limited and most of the images don't appear. But I saw the notice that the Library of Congress was going to archive the material and wonder if that is available.

I wonder if anyone has heard anything about WEV's site?
I think some on eBay must miss it as they are calling 1780-1800 sugar tongs something from the 17th century.
There are other sites out there, but none are as good as WEV's.

I have no idea how complete it is, but American Silversmiths is saved on loc.gov. Search American Silversmiths and once it opens Click on the last date saved to open it.

Thanks Bascall for that information. It looks like the Library of Congress was saving this for a long time with the last save in June of 2017.

If it were in pdf it could be downloaded thus protecting the resource.
