I am guessing that the vast majority of silver collectors here have some gray in their hair (gray is sometimes referred to as silver - a coincidence?) and wonder if members would be willing to share their approx. age that corresponds to the following age-range list.

Just post the letter that you fall under. I'll start: D

A - Under 35
B - 36-45
C - 46-55
D - 56-65
E - 66-75
F - 76-85
G - Older than the hills

I have yet to come across any millennials who have any real interest in silver other than coins.

B for me. wink
But I was collecting silver when I was in high school! I challenge anyone to find a teenager collecting Gorham and Georgian British hallmarked silver.

I'm sure cbc58 doesn't mean any harm....

Nevertheless, I suggest members think twice before replying.

If the group would like to conduct such data gathering then we could get it done in a much more anonymous way.

This is not the forum to discuss Internet security/privacy. On the SSF, in the past, I have slipped into such discussion. And its a departure and has been a distraction. Some of my old security rants can still be found on the SSF.

If there are a significant number of members who want to craft a survey that will then be sent to our membership .... then the responses can be anonymized.... This has been suggested before, but as a group there wasn't enough participation or interest.

In the past, when I have tried to provide the "specifics", it was too much info for most or it wasn't of interest.

We try to run the forums in such a way as to avoid much of the Internet nastiness.

Scott, I appreciate your concern, my internet presence is pretty obvious and I don’t worry about giving out a general range of my age ( D ). Not my birthdate though and just to let the trolls know I lied to face book years ago because I though it weird that they asked for that back then and I did not trust what they might do with that info.
It turned out well because now I get birthday wishes 2 times a year!

I’m a “C” and I too started collecting as a teenager most likely due to having parents and grandparents who collected!
