This is being mentioned because of the impact it has had on the Silver Salon Forums. IE., more costs because of increased bandwidth and many more hours to review the logs, to ID bad guys and then to block the bad guys. In an ABC interview Trump invited the world to interfere with our elections. Almost immediately there was a huge up tic of bad guys trying to break into our Silver Salon Forums. Here is a short version and the full version of the ABC Evening News report. So far we have been successfully blocking most of the bad guys. Occasionally they manage to register and we delete the registration. Their hacking skills are getting better.... We are a discussion group focused on silver and not connected to social media like FB/twitter .... you'd think they would leave us alone. ??? IP: Logged |

I take a middle-of-the-road view of Trump and don't see where he gave an invitation for foreign election interference. What is that anyway? Is it where a foreign country or anyone from a foreign country provides information on another candidate? What happens if this information is passed onto the FBI and then someone in that organization takes a biased view on it and then leaks the information to the press? What is your theory on the increased occurrences of "bad guys" trying to gain access to this site? Are there political candidates that post here and said bad guys want to trigger a backdoor into their computers to read their emails? Seems like a stretch to tie this activity to Trump. I am more concerned with "domestic" influence from corrupt political actors who scheme to steal primaries by rigging the system or who hire spies to manage their govt. webservers. Not sure any of those folks are silver collectors. And it's hard enough for someone interested in silver to get through the SSF gauntlet to post - bad guys don't know what they are up against. The Silver Salon Forums is a place to discuss silver; not politics. The bad guys and their robots don't know this, they just see a discussion forum in the USA. The declaration from the White House and up tick is too coincidental. IP: Logged |

Scott, thanks for that information. I suspect the hackers just take a shotgun approach in seeking access to discussion groups on the internet. Thanks for keeping them off. IP: Logged |
