Received an unsolicited surprise in the mail the other day. A lady sent along photos of a lapel pin given to her about 20 years ago with the jeweler's box that the pin came in. The little box is in pretty bad shape, but it was fun to do a little research on the jeweler. The box reads: H.O. Hurlburt & Sons, 813 Chestnut St., Philadelphia. The firm was founded by Henry O. Hurlburt, William H. Hurlburt and Frederick B. Hurlburt. Philadelphia Business Directories list the location per below which says the little box pre-dates 1950.

1890 Philadelphia Dir.: listed as jewelers, 938 Market, Philadelphia, PA
1901 Philadelphia Dir.: listed as jewelers, 938 Market, Philadelphia, PA
1912 Philadelphia Dir.: listed as jewelers, 14 S. 10th, Philadelphia, PA
1925 Philadelphia Dir.: listed as wholesale jewelers, 813 Chestnut, Philadelphia, PA
1950 Philadelphia Dir.: listed as jewelry, 817 Chestnut, Philadelphia, PA
