Can you tell me anything about the Mexican Silversmiths (or hallmarks) "BETO" and "OCAMPO" (or "M OCAMPO")? I have a couple pieces with these marks, and the on-line references seem to skip over them.

Hi simplysimon,

I, too, have run across the BETO and MO CAMPO marks on some of my Mexican silver jewelry but was unable to positively identify the makers. From what I have seen, these pieces appear to have been made during the heyday of Taxco Mexican silver production, 1940s-70s. The best reference source for Mexican silver marks is Billie Hougart's book "The Little Book of Mexican Silver Hallmarks," you could probably find a copy for sale on Amazon or possibly on eBay or Half.com. I recently sold my copy on eBay - it is a popular book so it went fast.

Best wishes from Sue smile
