Hello all

Here I have a Scandinavian brooch. The patina on this is so heavy that at first I thought it was pewter but then noticed a faint 830S mark so realized it was silver.

Besides the Vikinger Opdager American mark you see on the back photo it is also marked 830S S.L N.M. I tried to photograph this additional mark but could not get a clear pic

Could any of you kind people tell me the who this maker might be?

Your help is appreciated

Please be so kind and write exact how the letters are written and if there are dots or not. For example: there is a difference between S.L., S.L or SL
Maybe I can find something in my sources.

Hi again Sazkiv...

Thanks for the postings (on both threads)

The markings on this are

"Viking Opdager Amerika" - perhaps this is the title of the scene represented ???

Then in much impressed mark it reads

830S S.L. N.M.
I put the dots and spaces exactly as it reads.

Am I right in the assumption that this is danish rather than norwegian?

Thank you - You have been very kind

Dusty

The brooch is Danish.
S. L. is SVEND AAGE MARIUS LARSEN, Slagelse 1937 - 1957
N. M. is NICOLAI SÖREN MUNCK, Copenhagen 1937 - 1947
The motto: The vikings discover America.
The needletyp is typical for this period.
Hope this helps.
