Hello Again-

This is my sterling Swordfish Stiletto "Swordy" smile I CANNOT get the mark very well it comes out blurry...So- it is a shield with backwards S w/line through it and 2179..

I was wondering how old it might be?..
I do not have any silver books yet.
PS, I have a better picture now for the mark on the pic frames if anyone wants to look again.

Thanks very much!!

Oh, he's wonderful! Are you sure the "S" is backwards? Sounds like it might be Simons Brothers & Co. They used to produce, among other things, all sorts of fancy sewing accessories, believe are still making thimbles.

This is a Simons Brothers (Philadelphia) sewing stiletto, circa 1905. It is a very famous design.

Simons Bros. are still in business. In addition to making thimbles, they also make a variety of other items, including charms, pins, and specially commissioned jewelry items for organizations. For example, Simons produced a custom-designed silver charm bracelet that was given to players in the NCAA women's basketball Final Four, which was held earlier this year in Boston.
