Ulysses Dietz Moderator Posts: 1265 Registered: May 99	posted 06-28-2008 06:33 PM The Brooklyn Museum has recently been given a juicy collection of jewelry, much of it silver, by the African-American art jeweler of Greenwich Village, Art Smith. I've seen the small catalogue/booklet for the show, and it is the finest group of his things I've ever run across. Made me painfully jealous. Brooklyn never has cared about jewelry, but Smith was originally from Brooklyn...it's a real coup for them. IP: Logged

Polly Posts: 1970 Registered: Nov 2004	posted 07-22-2008 01:30 AM I went to see this over the weekend & was very glad I did. Some wonderful pieces, and his tools, too. I could have done without the music they had playing in the exhibition room, though. The whole museum had way too much multimedia racket--you couldn't get away from it. As if they thought nobody could possibly simply look at the objects & art without falling asleep, so they had to keep us entertained with sound effects. Next time I'm bringing earplugs. IP: Logged
