Hi,
I found this ring in a box of Grandma's old jewelry. It is likely old, and is marked Sterling with a W in an inverted triangle. I would like to know the maker and perhaps the date the ring was made? Thank you for your help!

Hello Dreamy!
Welcome to the forum. We ask that you please tell us a little about yourself & your interest in silver. That said, I believe your mark is that of J.J. White Mfg. co. Providence R.I a maker of costume jewelry since 1900.
If you do a web search for costume jewelry maker marks you should find them.

Thank you Jersey! I did do a search, although I found only that it is the JJ White piece, but nothing I found was similar so I still do not know about the age.

I love silver.. sterling, plated, etc...! I was thrilled to come across this site, and have perused it in spare moments. So much to learn, so interesting!

I inherited some gorgeous silver pieces and that is what sparked my interest. The ring shown, as well as earrings, a few other rings, some platters which I think are or were silverplated, 2 very odd what look like old monogrammed cigarette boxes, not certain about those, but that is another question.

I do not know much about silver, but what I am learning is so fascinating! Thanks for having this site!

I think this type of ring was given to/worn by Campfire Girls, Brownie Scouts, or some such group...
