I am brand new in trying to understand markings on jewelry. I acquired a silver necklace at an estate sale and would like to understand what the TM-11 925 mean. Please help. Is there a reference or way to contact the government registry offices of different countries to get this info. Thank you.

It was made of sterling silver in Taxco, Mexico after 1979. The TM-11 mark is the workshop number; the T stands for Taxco. This marking system was put into use ca 1980, when use of the eagle shaped assay mark was discontinued.

Thank you for the info. Is there a way to find out who the artist is or the name of the workshop?
