Madeleine Turner (often spelled Madeline Turner) was an under-appreciated mid-century New York jeweler who worked for Georg Jensen USA and also sold metalwork herself. According to the always amazing researcher Bascall, she "was born on 7 April 1905 in Augusta, Maine, father: Oliver W Turner who was born in Augusta, mother Martha M Davenport who was born in Bangor. Her father who was a physician reported the birth. "She is later listed in a 1931 directory as a New York artist with her parent's address showing as her residence, and in the 1940 census...she is shown as a teacher of arts & crafts. She sailed to Europe in 1924 to visit and study in France, Switzerland and Italy, [and was] in Manhattan directories until at least 1946 as a jewelry designer."
