Occasionally one encounters a unique object or a bit of surprising information that really needs to be shared with the antiques world so as not to be lost. Here is a large early 20th C sterling brooch I purchased recently that came with the original business card of the creator. The brooch is simple in form, just a rounded dome with rows of cutout and applied wire shapes. However, Ms. Peterson obviously intended this to be more than just a hobby. Judging by the presence of a phone number and the font used on the card, I would say that she must have worked in the pre-war period and was not part of the Studio movement that arose after WWII. Surprisingly, Geraldine Peterson the jeweler has no Google presence, so who knows how much of her work survives. Regardless, I think we can safely say that this mark of G.J.P. is hers. I hope this info can be of use to someone in the future.

223 South Sixth Street in Philadelphia has its own interesting history as the former home of Mayor Dilworth and apparently the start of gentrification of that area. I did not see anything about Ms. Peterson, but it could be newspapers at the time Mayor Dilworth built his home has some information about its prior history.
Thanks for the interesting post. Named telephone exchanges also bring back good memories.
