The Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) has through November 30 an exhibition of Ohio silver. On November 12 Harriet Schmitt will present the discussion The Rich Heritage of Silver.

OXFORD, Ohio - "Ohio Silver" opens Sept. 2 at the Miami University Art Museum.

The exhibition, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the art museum, includes a survey of 19th century Ohio silver and features works by prominent silversmiths Richard Clayton (active 1834-1859) and Edward Kinsey (1844-1850) of Cincinnati.

The exhibition is guest-curated by antique dealers Ted and Harriet Schmitt. Owners of "Schmitts of Fairhaven" in Fairhaven, Ohio, they are members of the Ohio Folk Art Association, the Victorian Society of Cincinnati and the Ohio Decorative Arts Association.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Harriet Schmitt will present an informal brown bag discussion on "The Rich Heritage of Silver" at noon Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the art museum.

"A Jubilee Celebration: 25th Anniversary of the Miami University Art Museum" will be held Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 8 and 9.

The exhibition continues through Nov. 30. Art museum hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The museum is closed on state and federal holidays. Admission is free. For more information, call (513) 529-2232.
