Read My Pins: The Madeleine Albright Collection

Although not a strictly silver event, this sounds like a very interesting exhibition for the jewelry lovers in the forums who also have a taste for history.

Now through August 23, 2009, more than 200 pins from the Madeleine Albright collection are on display at the Museum of Arts and Design at Columbus Circle in New York City. Many of the pins were worn by Ms. Albright during her tenure as Secretary of State. She became known for wearing broaches that purposefully conveyed her views about the situation at hand.

There is a book to accompany the exhibition called Read My Pins: Stories from a Diplomat's Jewel Box. It is published by HarperCollins.

I got a look at the catalog for this exhibition and the forward leads me to believe that this collection was not actually worn by Ms. Albright. In fact, it seems that this collection was the result of a challenge sent out to contemporary designers to come up with pieces that would be representative of the messages that Ms. Albright was trying to convey during her tenure as Secretary of State.
