Here's another example of rather perverse Victorian humor, this time for the firm of Andrew Scott Laughlin of Barnet VT. His vitals can be found on my tree: Andrew Scott Laughlin. An extended bio of he and his sons can be found in Carlisle's Vermont Clock and Watchmakers, Silversmiths, and Jewelers.

The back of the card states:

    Having recently refitted and improved our store and filled it with new goods, we will be happy to have you call and examine our stock.
It then lists about a hundred items from alarm clocks to vases and concludes by saying
    We can only name a few things here, but would like to shew [sic] you what we have to sell.
