I can report that the sample is promising: Workmanlike writing, if a bit on the dry, academic side, and a very interesting topic. (I actually prefer the dry, academic side of the spectrum to the breathless, sloppily researched side.) I'm now considering reading the rest of the book

You gotta admit: a great title.

I'd forgotten about this. It's had some good reviews in the general media, but that was more from a general cultural history POV. Would love to hear Polly's take on it
