This is the smallest pair of tongs I have ever seen! They were made by Gorham, it looks like around 1885-1890, and are marked with the company's trademark and "56". As can be seen from the image, they are quite diminutive. They are 1 5/8" long. I'm not sure what these could have been made to serve, so I tentatively guess they were toy or doll tongs. IP: Logged |

I have seen similar tongs as a set with a pill box... for picking up small pills. But I'm not sure when those were made, so the era may be wrong. IP: Logged |
