Shown below are three old blunt blade Tiffany knives:

Palm Pattern (originated 1870) Plated Blade.
Persian Pattern (originated 1872) Plated Blade. Richelieu Pattern (originated 1892) English steel blade (not plated)

[gone from the internet - knives.jpg]

You can clearly read the inscriptions from the photo. The palm handle has a "C" on it which indicates it would be from the period 1902-1907. The Persian knife has a script 'm' (see dating). The Richelieu blade is English and shows V/R (Victoria Regina) which places it prior to 1901.

Does anyone have any definitive information on Tiffany Knives for these early patterns:

  1. Did the original sets from the 1870's include knives of the pattern.
  2. When were the first Tiffany knives and what were they like? Plated? Steel?
  3. During what period did start use the English Blades?
  4. Can you date the Persian blade from what is shown?
  5. When was the first Tiffany stainless blade made?
