Hello,
First of all, I love this forum. Thank you for all the great information.

I would like to find out what anyone might know about the purpose of a Tiffany sterling bowl with the usual Tiffany hallmarks, but it also has 3 PINTS below that.

I could not find any reference in Carpenter's book or other materials I have. It is from about 1910.

My first inclination is an ice cream serving bowl, but I would like to find out if anyone has found factual information.

Thank you so much.
Cheers,
Martha

Tiffany's catalogue (Blue Book) of 1910 lists various sterling bowls, including berry bowls from 7 1/2 to 12 1/2 inches in diameter, and ice bowls in 2-, 4- and 6-pint sizes. There are much larger bowls (11 to 30 pints) for punch. Ice cream dishes, which I suspect took the form of high-rimmed platters, without reference to size or capacity, are also listed. Perhaps your bowl is for ice.
