This spoon belongs to my 79 year old mother in law. She says it is about 100 years old. The mark on the back is a "W" looks like a lion on right side, can't make out the left side. Looks like a bear on front. Help!!! I don't know a darn thing about silver.

Wendell Mfg. Co. of Chicago, Illinois made your spoon. The pattern is Bird. An 1896 Wendell catalogue shows that coffee spoons in the Bird pattern were offered both with and without enameling. Wendell also offered in this pattern strawberry or sliced fruit forks, bon bon servers and book marks.
