Does anyone know who the WM Co. is? I have a silver purse marked WM Co. and 0725 ( which I am assuming is the silver content). The letters are very simply written in block. Also, any idea of the age? Thanks for your help.

W M CO was a mark used by the Watrous Mfg. Co. Here's a description of one of their purses, recently advertised for sale at $149:

quote:
Wonderful small evening purse, in sterling silver, made by Watrous Mfg. Co. in about 1921. There are lots of features in this small purse. There are 2 slots for coins, a mirror and a compartment for powder, and a spring-clasp for either cards or "folding money". The outside or the purse is bordered in a floral garland and monogrammed. It hangs from a silver chain and is 3" by 2 1/2". The condition is excellent...all the hinges and snaps work to perfection, and the mirror is perfectly clear. There are faint surface scratches and a tiny and shallow depression on the back.

Could the "725" be a "925"? A 925 on your purse would mean that it is also sterling silver.
