any idea on the specifics of this great Gorham Serving Piece?

Your spoon is a nice example of a cast serving piece that complements the Martelé line. Note that while the piece is cast, it still has a sort of handmade feel in the bowl. Since these pieces were cast instead of handwrought, they were less expensive (but probably still not cheap) than Martelé servers. I am not sure what the dimensions are for this piece, but it looks like it might be a berry spoon. This and a few other Martelé style serving pieces are illustrated in the catalog for the "Magnificent, Marvelous Martelé" exhibit.

appreciate the response,,the piece does measure just over 10" in length,, any idea on how to acquire a copy of that catalog?

I purchased mine from Spencer Marks a couple months ago, and they are apparently out of stock at the moment.

I think you can purchase one from the publisher. Here is their information:
